Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, is attempting to purchase SolarCity, another company he is chairman of the board. SolarCity’s shares have dropped 50% and combined with low profits may provide insight as to why Musk would want to combine two companies he already effectively runs. However, Musk say that he envisions a one-stop shop where customers can get a home PV system from SolarCity, a storage battery with the Tesla Powerwall, and an electric car such as their new Model 3 sedan.
